La Paz
La Paz Department · Cities

La Paz is like nowhere else: set in a bowl at 3,600 m below the snowy peak of Illimani, it's best seen from cable cars gliding over the rooftops. You'll pass cholitas in bowler hats and witches selling dried llama foetuses for good luck, between colonial churches and markets spilling onto the pavements. Fascinating, chaotic and breathtaking, in every sense.
