Uru community of Iruito
La Paz Department · Culture and history
The Urus are one of the oldest peoples of the Andes, long called the "people of the water". At Iruito, on the Desaguadero river, their community has opened a small museum and welcomes visitors to talk about their history, fishing and reeds. A rare encounter, to be approached with respect.
