San Miguel de Velasco is a peaceful mission village south of San Ignacio. Its 18th-century church of painted wood is one of the finest on the circuit, and the village is known for its carving workshops: you can watch craftsmen shape angels, saints and altarpieces, just as in Jesuit times.
